Occupy W.C.

Occupy w.c. moves to establish a lighter, ironic and non-academic relation with some images that reflect on our time and on the physical spaces in which we act out our existence.
This intervention is spurred by the belief that the public toilet is today the most free and democratic place where people meet. Placing inside a public toilet a creative project is a way to take possession of the new exhibition spaces, free from the constraints of the system and market conditions. We think that new artists can find in these places communication opportunities no less effective than those offered by official places of art.
Occupy w.c. is an invitation to all young people to take possession of it. It may prove easier for them to get noticed in a public toilet rather than an exhibit.

Occupy w.c. è un modo per stabilire una relazione più leggera, ironica e non accademica con alcune immagini che riflettono sul nostro tempo e sugli spazi fisici in cui agiamo la nostra esistenza. A sollecitare questo intervento è la convinzione che la toilette pubblica sia oggi il posto più libero e democratico in cui le persone si incontrano. Collocare al suo interno un progetto creativo è un modo per appropriarsi di nuovi spazi espositivi, liberi da vincoli di sistema e di mercato.
Per i giovani artisti questi luoghi possono essere opportunità di comunicazione non meno efficaci di quelle offerte dai luoghi ufficiali dell’arte e della cultura. Sarà forse più facile per loro farsi notare dentro un cesso che in qualche collettiva a pagamento.
